What is Peak Performance?
Peak is playing an entire round being fully present to the shot in front of me (attuned to my body, emotions, conditions), not allowing thoughts and emotions about my final score or past shots to interfere with my execution. Peak is maintaining a posture of humility toward the game, never taking anything for granted, and thus keeping myself completely engaged in the present moment. Because I know that as soon as I let myself be pulled into the past or future, I open the door to mistakes. This is peak because it is all of my energy, potential, attention, being… channeled into each act on the golf course.
We need to get away from focusing on score. “Peak” changes because YOU change, day-to-day, week-to-week. But you can achieve peak by staying present to each shot and allowing yourself to tap into your full potential each time you strike the ball. Whether you feel great as you start your round or not quite yourself, you will likely shoot a better score if you shift your focus from your score to what you can do to access your full potential.
